June Updates
As construction continues across the Ranch, we are also focused on expanding the programs that will one day fill these spaces with purpose. One of those is our Alumni Program, which exists because healing is not a single week in Montana. It is an ongoing journey of restoration, connection, and support. Through return visits to Montana, alumni have the opportunity to reconnect with fellow recipients, strengthen the bonds formed during their Task Force, and find renewed encouragement alongside people who understand the unique demands of military service.
As one recent alumnus shared after returning to Montana with his family, "This trip came at a critical time for our family to provide peace, serenity, and fun during the often chaotic pace of life in Special Operations service." He went on to describe how his family slowed down, reconnected, and returned home refreshed, adding, "We are thankful and remain committed to serving this country as a family." The Alumni Cabin stands as a physical reminder of our promise that support does not end when a Task Force concludes. Once part of the Big Sky Bravery family, our recipients remain part of a community committed to walking alongside them for years to come.
Construction continues to advance across the ranch, with meaningful progress underway on every major structure. At the Lodge, crews are completing the cold roof framing and sheathing while continuing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) rough-ins. Work at the Caretakers Cabin includes framing the front and back porches, completing the spray-foam insulation, and preparing the concrete slab for the trash enclosure. At the Rec Barn, fire sprinkler installation continues throughout the attic space. The Alumni Cabin is seeing continued framing of the gable wall and roof truss sheathing, as well as installation of the garage roof underlayment. At the Family Cabin, crews are continuing main-level wall framing and preparing and pouring the garage slab.
In the weeks ahead, construction will continue to build momentum across the property. At the Lodge, crews will continue MEP rough-ins before beginning installation of the weather-resistant barrier (WRB) and masonry work. The Caretakers Cabin will see completion of the front and back porch framing before WRB and batt insulation installation begins. The Rec Barn will move into drywall installation, exterior WRB installation, and preparation of the concrete patio slab. At the Alumni Cabin, crews will complete the roof sheathing and underlayment before beginning WRB installation. Meanwhile, work at the Family Cabin will continue with main-level framing, bringing another key structure one step closer to completion.

Designed with intention and gratitude, this dedicated space will provide our Task Force volunteers with the rest they deserve—and need. Until now, housing limitations in our area have meant that most volunteers sleep on cots, sofas, or air mattresses. But the work they do demands more. This thoughtfully designed room will provide a quiet, peaceful environment where up to six volunteers can enjoy restorative, uninterrupted sleep, ensuring they’re fully energized to support our recipients and carry out the crucial work of saving and changing lives. Each volunteer will have: a personal sleeping space with drawers to settle in, a privacy curtain to reduce light and noise, and access to private bathroom stalls and a shared vanity area. More than just a room, this is a place of refuge and recharge, honoring the sacrifice of those who show up for others, day in and day out.

Located in the heart of the main lodge, within the Memorial Library, The Giving Wall honors the families and individuals who carry the long-term mission of Big Sky Bravery forward. Named to reflect the many levels of belief and generosity it takes to sustain a mission of this magnitude, this wall stands as a symbol of unwavering commitment to what happens on this land: life-saving decompression, reconnection, and restoration for active-duty Special Operations Forces and their families.
