Alumni Cabin – Cold Roof Framing & WRB Install
Each month, the Big Sky Bravery Ranch becomes less of a vision and more of a place where healing, restoration, and lifelong connection will take root. Thanks to the generosity and commitment of our capital campaign investors, meaningful progress continued across every major structure throughout July, bringing us closer to opening a permanent home for America's most elite warriors and their families.
The Task Force Lodge continued to see significant advancement as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-ins progressed alongside installation of the weather-resistant barrier. Work also began on the dining room and exterior patio fireplace—spaces intentionally designed to foster the conversations, shared meals, and relationships that become the foundation of every Big Sky Bravery Task Force. Batt insulation, continued masonry work, and ongoing window waterproofing further prepared the Lodge for the next phase of construction.
The Caretakers Cabin continued its transition into a finished home as sheetrock installation advanced throughout the interior. Crews also completed window waterproofing and began installing the stone chimney, bringing another defining architectural element to life while moving the home closer to completion.
At the Rec Barn, construction momentum continued with sheetrock installation, completion of window waterproofing, and the start of the standing seam metal roof. Designed as a gathering space for recreation, fellowship, and family connection, the Rec Barn continues to take shape as one of the Ranch's central destinations.
Progress also continued on the Alumni Cabin, where crews advanced the cold roof system and completed interior framing punch work before beginning installation of the weather-resistant barrier. Once complete, this cabin will provide alumni recipients with a place to reconnect, continue their healing journey, and strengthen the lifelong community that extends well beyond their initial Task Force experience.
Meanwhile, the Family Cabin reached another important milestone as installation of spray foam insulation and a weather-resistant barrier began, positioning the structure for upcoming mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work. This dedicated space will provide military families the opportunity to reconnect, strengthen relationships, and build lasting memories together.
Looking ahead to August, construction activity will continue at an impressive pace. Window installation is expected to begin on the Lodge, Caretakers Cabin, and Rec Barn while masonry, roofing, and weatherproofing efforts continue across the property. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-ins are also scheduled to begin at both the Alumni Cabin and Family Cabin, marking another significant step toward transforming these buildings into spaces ready to serve future recipients.
Every completed milestone is made possible by a community of investors who chose to build something that will endure for generations. The Big Sky Bravery Ranch is more than a collection of buildings—it is a lasting promise to America's Special Operations Forces community that they will always have a place where restoration, connection, and renewed purpose can be found. The Rec Barn will be the central hub for families and alumni to gather and gear up for the day’s adventures. It will house equipment and recreational vehicles, providing easy access to motorized areas of the property that are otherwise inaccessible on foot. Designed with convenience and comfort in mind, the Rec Barn will make exploring the entirety of the property both effortless and enjoyable. Additionally, a thoughtfully designed space within the barn will offer families and alumni a welcoming spot to connect and relax outside of their cabins, fostering moments of camaraderie and shared experiences.

The bedrooms in the lodge are designed as true sanctuaries for the six recipients, each offering an unparalleled space for privacy, rest, and recovery. With one bedroom and bathroom dedicated to each individual, these spaces provide the solitude and comfort needed to recharge and reflect. The bedrooms are designed as private sanctuaries for each of the six recipients, offering a personal bedroom, bathroom, and balcony with stunning landscape views. Tailored for active-duty warriors, the rooms feature pumped oxygen to enhance recovery at high altitudes. With a focus on privacy, comfort, and rest, these tranquil spaces provide the ideal environment for recipients to recharge both physically and mentally, whether enjoying the serene outdoors or the calming interior.

Designed with intention and gratitude, this dedicated space will provide our Task Force volunteers with the rest they deserve—and need. Until now, housing limitations in our area have meant that most volunteers sleep on cots, sofas, or air mattresses. But the work they do demands more. This thoughtfully designed room will provide a quiet, peaceful environment where up to six volunteers can enjoy restorative, uninterrupted sleep, ensuring they’re fully energized to support our recipients and carry out the crucial work of saving and changing lives. Each volunteer will have: a personal sleeping space with drawers to settle in, a privacy curtain to reduce light and noise, and access to private bathroom stalls and a shared vanity area. More than just a room, this is a place of refuge and recharge, honoring the sacrifice of those who show up for others, day in and day out.

Named to reflect the many levels of belief and generosity it takes to sustain a mission of this magnitude, this wall stands as a symbol of unwavering commitment to what happens on this land: life-saving decompression, reconnection, and restoration for active-duty Special Operations Forces and their families.
